@MMarcan14 my mistake, it is not called 7.62 x 39mm NATO. it is simply 7.62 x 39mm, it is the round the Ak-47 and many variants chamber. so it does exist. but, i do now know that , assuming you are correct, what the metric equivalent is of .308.
