You will need to have the engine open to adjust the timing. There will be a timing mark on the crankshaft as well as the cam pulley. Your best bet is to acquire a repair manual for your engine. It will explain the exact steps necessary to properly time your engine. Honda offers all of their repair manuals through their Ebay store. You can find them by searching for "Honda Power Equipment Publications" on Ebay.

I hope this helps,

Hey buddy, on the Kercher PW w/ the Honda motor (gc160), can you please tell me how I set the timing?
Do I HAVE to open the whole block back up, or can that be accomplished from the top?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I got to work on my own lawnmower this season thanks to you guys! Totally dismantled and cleaned its carburetor like in your 2-cycle carb video, and I've never done repair work before. I feel like a bona fide technician!

Carbon brushes transfer electrical power to an electric motor by making contact with the motor's armature as the armature spins. Because of the spinning contact between the two pieces, the softer carbon brushes wear down over time. Brushes should be replaced before they wear down to their wear lines. When brushes have worn past their wear lines or become damaged, symptoms include: the device not starting at all, the device starting and stopping alternately, a rattling sound coming from the product's motor area, or just low power. Hope that helps!
