About this user

I've had a very long standing interest in railway operations not only in the UK (since 1962) but also in Europe - in particular the Benelux Countries, Germany, Austria & Switzerland since 1984, and have been working on them in England since Oct 16th 1978. (So now with over 33 years service, I can officially be classed as a British Rail Dinosaur).

I have also had an interest in Model Railways for over 30 years, modelling in both British 'OO' & 'N' gauges until approx 1984 when I discovered European HO after a holiday in the above listed countries, as a result my main modelling interest is now Germany / Austria in the mid / late 80's, and the other 4 countries if there's something interesting . I have recently been involved in EM gauge as a layout operator and also slightly larger outdoor gauges.

I am a member of Milton Keynes Model Railway Society, located at Bletchley Park, our website for more info is www.mkmrs.org.uk.

Part of my family descends from Weissweiller, near Langewehr, which is on the main line between Aachen and Koeln, hence my username being what it is. I've worked out from my family tree that I am approx 87% English & 13% German.

On the English side, there have been family on the railway since a certain Isambard Kingdom Brunel had something to do with the Great Western Railway, I am the only one who in the family has since emigrated to one of the other 'Big Four' and in 1986 did what Bill Stanier did in the in 1930's and now work on the former LMS at a London Station known locally as 'Der Hauptbahnhof.
