This was must viewing for me every year on CBS when I was growing. CBS would always play the "CBS speical presentation" bumper. Sponsered by Hostess or was it Dolly Madison?

Actually I can choose MagicLime, maybe you can't but I sure can. The radio only plays "Shake it Out" and "What the Water Gave Me" probably because those are more "radio friendly". Then I heard the rest of the album. I prefer the more radio "un-friendly" songs.

Definitly due for a bio-documentary on tv-one's "Unsung".

Never knew about this movie. I know Shirley Jones and Lloyd Bridges did a move called "Silent Night, Lonely Night". They used to show it on A&E years ago when it stood for arts and entertainment.

Heard this song on the radio this morning, really brought back the memories. Seems once Destiny's Child burst on the scene, these funky divas were kind of forgotten in the mass media. EV was great because they were truly a girl group with equal vocal talent across the board--not a bunch of girl...

Whenever I hear this song I think about the trailer to the movie "Shame".

I can always rely on TCM doing the best remberance... it inspires to look up actors/actresses that I have never heard of. Sadly the Oscars will never learn & use this....they might have to get rid a couple of jokes for the host or drop a dance number.

Back in the old days this used to be called a "very special episode". When sitcoms would depart from the normal comedy and deal with serious subject matter. This does not happen anymore because sitcoms have changed and the term is more of a joke or sarcastically used.

Oh yes, I remember Charley and Humphrey. So cute!

I was never into General Hospital, yet I would always rush home from school (school let out at 2:45) to listen to the closing theme music--it just sounded so epic. It was rare to get the entire theme and/or no voiceovers announcing what was coming on next.

I never heard this version by Nat King Cole--his voice sounds really smooth here in comparison with the version normally played on radio where his voice sound a bit more rough or husky.

@heine71 Thanks! I really miss KABL. When December started, they would gradually add in Christmas songs to the playlist--on Christmas Eve it was all Christmas music & they would go commercial free by evening. On December 26, it was back to Sammy, Dean, Frank, Andy Williams, etc. now that rad...

This song and "Me and Mrs Jones" by Billy Paul are almost like companion pieces in my mind. Whenever I think of one the other always follows.

Yeah was surprised a certain radio station bleeped the words "trigger", "bullets", and "gun". Treated the song like it was "Erotic City" by Prince.

I was born in 1968 so I didnt know about him growing up. But several years ago VH1 did a count down of the greatest teen idols ever and Bobby Sherman was right in there with David Cassiday and company. Went on to be successful in law enforcement & just sounds like an all around decent good guy...

This song got some play on our local neo-soul station a couple years back. I wished this had gotton more airing than the "Rehab" song

this episode ("Mask of Death") and another called "Boy Most Likely to" about an affluent prep school boy (Kristofer Tabori) who kills his teacher who won't fix his failing grade the only 2 episodes of SOSF that I remember by name.

I love this song. Years ago when I was a kid, the oldies station (when oldies meant 50s-60s) would have a show on Saturday evenings called "Rock and Roll's Greatest Hits. Whenever the theme was instrumentals they always included this song.

Definitely takes you back to the old days when there were 3 networks (the "big 3"), cable was small basically insignificant, and tv programming was 7 days a week. Today there are 1000s of channels, no more big 3, just alphabet channels, and programming is basically Sunday through Thursday. If ...
