The Motherland has to be Spain because Dominican culture is a modification of Spanish culture to make a NEW Latino culture like our Religion, Language, Dress, Form of Living, form of Dancing, etc.

Merengue has SOME elements of African culture but its combined with Spanish and Native culture.
