It was a ten oclock start for me and through the day there was much confusion as to where the barriers would finally rest. Confusion means hassle and I had it in abundance today. I have done hundreds of premieres and unpleasantness happens from time to time. My advice to one and all is if you want a front row spot, get there early and dont expect to push in or steal one from those who make the effort. A traditional red carpet outside the main Odeon was prettily decorated by overhead accent lights. A stage with giant screen took up the entire northern end of the Square and gave the crowd a great view of the goings on. A camera on a jib and two other cameras working the crowd fed great shots of the assembly and stars, Just as well, because apart from Sarah Jessica Parker, Hugh Grant and Sam Elliott there were not many other faces to spot. All three signed along the large areas of the fan line and were happy to chat as they made their way along. A few lucky ones got two heads poses too. A bit of light rain fell for half and hour prior to the six pm start but held off for the event. Chilly though. When the three principals made it to the stage each did an interview for all to see and hear before heading inside to the warm.
