I thought I would make this before we all blow up over nothing. Already too late for Eqd (300 comments and counting) but still, everypony needs to calm down.
Note: I will probably take this down after I get the storm of hate mail that's sure to come. More raps on the way later.
Also: About the eyes. I didn't know that at the time and I do think that was going overboard, but my point is to stop people from freaking out over this. We want to keep her in the show right? If we act like sensible adults, maybe HUB will be more likely to respond and work with us. Just a thought.

On February 24th 2012, the iTunes version of The Last Roundup was made available again after it was taken down weeks ago. However, the new version of the episode removed Derpy's name, gave her a new voice, and "un-derped" her eyes. This video is a comparison of original voice track vs. the modified voice track from Derpy's scene in The Last Roundup. Most of Rainbow Dash's lines, and all of Derpy's lines were re-recorded. These were taken from the center channel audio tracks of the 5.1 mix.

--BEGIN OPINION ZONE--
When I first heard Derpy's original voice in TLR, I admit I wasn't completely sold on it. However over the next couple of weeks I came to be really attached to it. It was Derpy's voice. Furthermore, Tabitha St. Germain's explanation of her inspiration for the voice made it all the more endearing. So now, to have that stripped away and replaced with a sub-par performance is maddening. (Note that I don't think the new voice is terrible, and had it been Derpy's original voice I would not have complained. But the new voice just sounds... kind of generic, and lifeless to me. We already had a voice for Derpy, and despite its flaws it helped to make her a unique and memorable character.)
In my opinion the worst part about this change is that they "fixed" her eyes. I honestly can understand removing the name "Derpy" as Hasbro does not have the copyright for it as far as I know. But there was no reason whatsoever to change the eyes. Ironically, I find it almost offensive that they would remove such a unique character trait, and instead replace it with something to make her seem "more normal," as if anything that makes someone different, unique, or outside the norm is somehow unacceptable.
But, what happened, happened I guess. It still remains to be seen if this becomes the new "official" version of the episode, or if this change only affects the iTunes release.

UPDATE 2/28/12: Hasbro has responded to the edit with the following statement from their public relations representative Nicole Angello:
"The 'My Little Pony Friendship is Magic' series has always been about acceptance and inclusion, and the series strives to convey that through the playful antics of a diverse cast of characters. Some viewers felt that aspects of the episode 'The Last Roundup' did not stay true to the core message of friendship which is the heart and soul of the series. Hasbro Studios decided to make slight audio alterations to this single episode."
It should be noted that, as I've personally confirmed with my own purchase, the episode remains unedited on the Friendship Express DVD that came out today. Whether that will change with subsequent production runs or later discs/box sets remains uncertain, but Hasbro's statement seems to imply this is going to remain a series-wide alteration, not just an iTunes edit as some have speculated.
So much for saying it's okay to be different.

Quick clip showing the blatant edit that is Derpy's new voice after the episode "The Last Roundup" was re-uploaded to iTunes earlier today. Video quality's not the best and I was a bit hasty getting this up, but it drives the point home.
