Elgin Watches were made in Elgin, Illinois for about a century. The major competitor to the Elgin National Watch Company was the Waltham Watch Company in Massachusetts, but today collectors favor Elgin Watches because of their fine quality, condition and availability.

Some Elgin Watches can be purchased inexpensively, some are genuine works of art, cased in gold and encrusted with jewels. The movements themselves are marvels of watch engineering. Elgin Watches embodied the perfection of the main spring.
