Most people think of it as a big optimistic 80's anthem. Actually it's a VERY dark song about someone who dreams about the "comfort" of life underground (death) rathern than dealing with the pain of life.

THis song was inspired by the 1992 Dan Quayle "family values" election campaign. The song is actually sung from the point of view of a psychopath, who the Christians think they can "cure".

Danny was dead serious about the message of this song. It was inspired by an article he read about a kid who killed someone. Bleeding heart types tried to pin it on society, without recognizing a real bad seed when they see it. Some people are just bad.

This song is about older wealthy guys who dates younger girls to make them feel powerful. Also, they don't ask questions, don't challenge them, and can't tell how shallow and empty they are, hence the one way mirror thing. But in the end it's a nightmare for them...because the little girls are to...
