This year marks my 40th year of involvement in civic life. I have served as a member of the Cleveland City Council, Clerk of the Cleveland Municipal Courts, and Mayor of the City of Cleveland. I have been an Ohio State Senator and am now in my sixth term as a Member of the United States Congress. Having served at local, state and federal levels, in legislative, executive and "quasi" judicial branches, I have one of the broadest backgrounds of anyone in government today. I intend to put my lifetime of experience into my work as the Chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of Government Oversight, and am running for re-election to Congress.

I welcome your suggestions and ideas as to how we can make our government truly become a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. I look forward to hearing from you.

Who elects the U.S. House when 90% of us don't know who is running in our own local districts? Who holds government accountable when 90% of us cannot even name the rep. that is in there now? The Constitution was supposed to establish a self-governing representative Republic - not a Plurocratic Dictatorship (where people put all the responsibility on the President).
