About this user
Eight Two is a punk/electro/acoustic/folk/acid/art/pop quartet from Brooklyn New York. Don't be fooled by the fact that their songs are written by their lead singer who claims not to be a musician but a visual artist, the quirky music of Eight Two is beautifully intricate and challenging, requiring real musicians to pull it off.
There is a very literal communion with New York in their sound: sampling trains which run as a noise drama throughout the song "Underground", and what I am guessing are hipsters in the park in "Venus", dirty waves and rainy streets that flow in and roll out of "Eight Two" and "Don't Feel Sorry", but also in their almost religious devotion to the city, as they put it: "...overcrowded, overpriced, but hard to over-hype, ours is the heartbreakingest city in the world that everyone loves to love - you don't try to kill a city that doesn't have a heartbeat, it is alive, has a will of its own, and every day it doesn't kill us, it makes us love it more desperately! If you picked us up and put us down in another town, we would willingly drop dead."
