It's all about consistent content and the quality of that content. If you are putting together well-edited videos with high quality picture and sound, and uploading the videos on a consistent basis, that's a great start. As for getting subscribers faster, one thing that would be a better idea than giveaways (because giveaways won't get you subscribers who will watch your videos), would be to make lots of friends in the YouTube community. Find other channels similar to yours and befriend the owners, and support them as they support you. YouTube popularity is almost entirely gained by word-of-mouth, so for people to find your channel they have to have a way to hear about it. Being active in the community is one of the best ways to do that.
