Bronies and the next era of Trekkies par se - but we are nothing like them. In the 80s or so when Star Trek really hit its audience many people took into the fandom by buying the merch, cos playing the characters and attending trek conventions. Today we are doing the equivalent but we have simply updated the procedure. Buy being part of the 'herd' (same ad being part of the 'next generation') we are promoting a brighter future by exploring creative concepts (fanart, videos, comics, music etc), toleration those who are indifferent (for example accepting homosexuality/metrosecuality) and connecting with people who truly have a good heart (because lets face it - jerks, jocks and dicks can't stand MLP's morals). So if anything, joining the herd is like being part of something better - depression, loneliness and hatred are thing of the past.
Plus we have ALOT of muffins. And who doesnt like muffins? :)
But no seriously, being a Brony isn't that bad and there's nothing to be ashamed of. You'll be more than a man (or woman, whatever the case), you'll have something to look forward to every week (new episodes), and you'll probably meet lots of friendly people in the community. Hell, if you can get your friends to like the show, you'll have a topic to talk about rather than boring "small talk".
Please join us, we have rainbows, cupcakes and a lot of friends :3
