I have read all of your books, and I am waiting to hear what the next book will cover. Your book Sarum, was the first book I read, in paperback, many years ago! I had no idea how great it would be, as were the rest to follow. Enjoyed London immensely; have family/ancestral ties to both places, as well as New York in its earliest days. I had often wondered what life was like for my ancestors, and you brought that out in a way I could understand and I am in awe of what my ancestors had to go through. Life must have been very hard at times, but they found the strength to carry on. Mostly because they didn't know how easy things would be for us in the 21st century, but with all the same worries as they had each day. Thank you for all the great books and I look forward to hearing an announcement about your next project/book! Thank you for all the great reading I have had over the years.

This afternoon I finished the book New York. Sitting on the deck in the sun, I could not put the book down and traveled all through the 20th century into the present. I can't wait to start with the next one.
Given all the research that must have gone in the books, I would not mind if the clips on Youtube would talk more about that, be a bit longer and touch on some of ht untold stories.

It looks like a fascinating novel. I especially liked the vintage photos and films of New York in the early 20th century. But couldn't you find any archival film showing cable cars in lower Manhattan without having to substitute a view of Market Street in San Francisco in 1905--with the Ferry building in the distance--one year before the great quake?!

Hello there. I wasn't really into reading until about 2 or 3 years ago when somebody give me a copy of Dublin, and since then I have read all of your books, apart from New York, which I am over half way through at the moment. Your attention to detail is fantastic, and so academically accurate, and the stories are beautiful. I like them all, but I think my favourite one came from London, I think, a character called Lucy, whos brother died. It was awful sad, but brilliantly written. I urge everyone to buy your books. My joint favourite story was from Sarum where the mason drops a massive stone on the guy who was shagging his wife and avenges him by ending his life. Perhaps you might sell this story to coronation street for Tyrone and Kevin.
Please keep up the fantastic work.

Mr. Rutherfurd, the way you see the history as individual`s story not as simple statistics is brilliant, I wish you wrote about Boston and Moscow. Awesome!

comment on[ jewish community} is this why jewish people would change there last names? because of Anti-Semitism? I would like to know because my grandma use to say we were yiddish but everyone in the family gets mad and say no way! not to stereo-type her but if you seen a pic of her there would be no dening it.thank you for answer.
