About Me:

Against Forgetting

The Music of the 20s and 30s gave me a feeling of Déjà vu.

I am grateful that YouTube also has rediscovered a lot of the great tunes of this era and let a new generation have the opportunity to enjoy them.

With this channel I want to remind you, how fleeting time is and how much is forgotten in just a few decades. Not only the big stars of yesteryear, but also the whole history and their connection with our world.

If people had paid more attention to the bad and good lessons of a not so distant past, maybe we would not have to face so many problems today.

It is with great delight that I receive each transmission from the subscription you so graciously granted to me.
They are all gems. But the latest " When the Green Leaves Turn to Gold " is a GEM among the gems. Perhaps
you could subtitle it ---For everyone's Favorite list. Thank you very much.

Joe Venuti was my great uncle and as you know he liked playing pranks. One of his favorite pranks was making up various dates and places of his birth. He was born in 1903 in Soth Philly near were I live. His birth certificate is on the Net + all his older siblings including my grandmother verified the real birth story.
Thank you for posting my uncle for all to hear.

I have an LP called "Hooray for Joe" - has it ever been released on CD?

Regards- John Ruggeri

PS @ 11 years old he made me play the guitar accompaniment for him to the Schubert Ave Maria. He loved all his nieces and nephews - he made me feel totally comfortable and of course, carried me..
At a gig at Michael;'s Pub in New York he called out to my brother then in his 30s and roared " Hey Tony get up here and sing.
He was not so patient with some critics whom he called "Empty Suits".
