@Randidan Yes it is on cd. I have the cd. I's a double cd that came out in honour of her career. The cd is in some moving boxes so I can't look up the exact title...but it's the last Deutekom cd to come on the market. It has some really great, great stuff on that cd.

Can anyone explain to me why one hears so little about this incredible artist? He is just amazing, but on Amazone I find hardly any cd...and even on youtube there is hardly any material about him.

@tomasburi Well..I don't know. All I know is that the formal discription of 'coup de glotte' does not match what Deutekom (or Bartoli) seems to be doing.

@moghedien13 The F sharp I was referring to is written in the score...it is not the (octave) higher F sharp some other singers sing (the latter one not being written in the score).

When she sings the right stuff she's absolutely unbeatable! Saw her once in a Concert. Extremely exciting singer. She dropped the role in 1971 or 1972 (not completely sure). Anyhow her last performance of this role was at the Hamburg opera in Germany. After these last performances a video was made (Studio) of the production (derecter by Peter Ustinov).

I was there that night and I can say it was absolutely stunning. No recording compares to the real colour of her voice. She has this very beautiful and warm sounding voice when heard live. And her acting was so effective in the theatre. She was really the (female) sensation of the evening to me.....

@dougbalt And even if Deutekom has an accent, why could the Queen of Night not be of Dutch origin? There's nothing in the story that rules that out.

Or do you have some sort of Knowledge that we don't have about this mystical figure?

I got it as 'extras' to the cd recording of 'Acide and Galathea' with her.

It's great to hear Sutherland in even younger voice. She also does some other fabulous baroque stuff that just blows your mind and makes you wonder ...

Indeed this is very special...might even call it bizarre.

But please take in mind that it's a (live) recording.

It's well known that Deutekom had a voice that did not record as well as it sounded in real.

She recieved twice the reward for 'best singer' because of these performances she gave of...

Did anyone notice that Wilma Driessen sings the higher part of Mme Herz while Deutekom sings the 'lower' part of Mme Silberklang. @birgitnilsson Transposed down is not bad or anything, its just 'transposed down'. It's in no way a judgement about the artistry of the singer in question. We all know that Sutherland had certain roles and passages transposed for her (either up or down) to suit her voice. There is absolutely noth...
