@Randidan Yes it is on cd. I have the cd. I's a double cd that came out in honour of her career. The cd is in some moving boxes so I can't look up the exact title...but it's the last Deutekom cd to come on the market. It has some really great, great stuff on that cd.

@hentaiwarrior16 She played the Tchaikovsky concerto that night. I wondered that evening why she played the fast sections of the first part slower when she came to the staccato section. I did not understand it for I never heard any other violist do that. On her recording she also does that. Till ...

@tomasburi Well..I don't know. All I know is that the formal discription of 'coup de glotte' does not match what Deutekom (or Bartoli) seems to be doing.

She dropped the role in 1971 or 1972 (not completely sure). Anyhow her last performance of this role was at the Hamburg opera in Germany. After these last performances a video was made (Studio) of the production (derecter by Peter Ustinov).
She stopped because she found that it...

I was there that night and I can say it was absolutely stunning. No recording compares to the real colour of her voice. She has this very beautiful and warm sounding voice when heard live. And her acting was so effective in the theatre. She was really the (female) sensation of the evening to me.....

@dougbalt And even if Deutekom has an accent, why could the Queen of Night not be of Dutch origin? There's nothing in the story that rules that out.
Or do you have some sort of Knowledge that we don't have about this mystical figure?
Also can't remember anyone freaking out over the fact that Aida...
