I Think it is only reasonable to remove the the red shorts for Superman. Thats what keeps the costume out of date and comical

The 2004 series was too serious. Unlike the original which a lot of elements like the the original Star Trek especially some humor. Also I was very disappointed with Richard Hatch's role in the new series
