@luc59457 That's why I don't think batteries are the answer. The propulsion is fine, storing the energy is a problem. Retrofit every road with a giant electrified mesh, ala dodgems, there's your answer :p (I am of course joking, but the idea of a road pick-up system is an intriguing one)

I have to admit, as a male driver, during my first 3 months of driving I nearly did 0:31 - Thought I had taken it out of gear then lifted my foot of the clutch, I was in a diesel too so It had to trouble jumping fairly far even with the parking brake on, caught it in time though :)

No wonder young driver's insurance is an utter mess. Idiots like this. If you want to be a complete tool on the road take it to a track, closed road or private property.

@JohnyPNK All I can find is references to cambelt breakages, which is a problem for any interference engine, diesel or otherwise, a proper service should have this one every 75K miles anyway. Can someone elaborate?
