A song and a group lost in time, like your favorite obscure 60's psych band that somehow got caught in a tornado and was transported to the northeast in the mid-late 80s. Excellent live act.

The 30th Anniversary of Guadalcanal Diary makes me feel my geezerhood pressing down upon me. They look and sound as wonderful as they did in the Reagan administration, from which they were a major and welcome respite.

Always timely. One of the high points of "Amerika", but how do you follow up an album like "Life In The Food Chain"?

I was at this show and while watching this clip I was imagining a Dave Alvin/Richard Thompson dual electric tour. It would be a great show, but so far beyond critical mass that a large number of paramedics would be required.

May 2011, I saw Herb Pedersen, who wrote the song, along with Christ Hillman do the tune and good as they were, all I could think of was Thursday evenings in the late 70's at the Birchmere in Alexandria Va, watching the Starling/Duffy version of the Seldom Scene. No disrespect to any other Seldo...

British band, one single in 1969. This was the flip-side. It would fit right in on
Pink Floyd's "The Wall". If you like things like this, check out Technicolor Web Of Sound internet radio.

I saw Richard/Clive/Christine et al several times on their US tour and it was always this good, but doing mostly RT songs. The shows were were documented on a VHS tape called "Across A Crowded Room-Live. For reasons that go beyond inexplicable, no one has ever seen fit to release it on DVD.
Phil Och's version appeared on "Pleasures Of The Harbor" and is much fuller and more symphonic. This song is arguably his finest composition from a lyrical perspective. Phil's work sometimes fell short of his ambitions, but the structure and images in this song came together almost perfectly....
