1988 Graduate of Clemson University where he played football for 2 ½ years

Elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2002. He was recently elected as Chairman of the House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee. Previously, he served for 4 years as Chairman of the Environmental I sub-committee and 1st Vice Chairman of the Committee. During the previous Legislative Session, Jeff served as Chief Majority Party Whip.

Jeff was appointed by the Speaker of the House to be Chair the Education Finance Study Committee charged with looking at the states 30 year-old funding formula for public education.

An advocate for energy, Jeff was appointed to the United States Dept. of the Interior Outer Continental Shelf 5-year planning sub-committee making recommendations on oil and natural gas leases on offshore areas. In addition, he serves on the States Natural Gas Offshore Drilling Study Committee.

In November 2008, Jeff was appointed by the Speaker to represent the State of South Carolina on the Southern States Energy Board.

Jeff and Melody have been married for 20 years and have three sons, Graham, John Philip and Parker.
