About this user
Im the mother of the strongest, most determined little boy ive ever known... My son, Kaiden was born 6wks prem by emergency c-section on July 4 2007. He weighed a tiny 3lb 14oz and was never expected to live... Congenital Cytomegalovirus almost took him from me.
He was born with 2 bleeds on his brain, calcifications, extremely low platelets, low birth weight, enlarger liver and spleen and jaundice.
We were told he would probably have Cerebal Palsy, Autism, Blindness, Deafness, Mental Retardation, Developmental Delay, etc, etc, etc. So far he has escaped with only hearing loss to both ears- moderate/severe in left and profound in right. He wears little blue hearing aids and can hear as low as whispers wearing them. His hearing is at the same developmental stage as a normal child his age and he attends Speech Therapy for an hour every week. So far all is going well...
His name is Celtic for WARRIOR and we chose it in the very first few weeks of my pregnancy. The name fits him perfectly because he is my little WARRIOR- he made it through against all odds and fought his way to where he is now.
Kaiden is an amazingly mellow, chilled-out, easy baby and he is the happiest little thing anyones ever seen!!! Today hes healthy with no problems other than his hearing. He has regular check with Peadiatrician, Physio, OT and Audio to make sure hes on track. He is a few months behind developmentally but with all hes been through and the fact he is progressing nicely, it isnt a concern.
I have started a site to create awareness for this devastating virus:
www.myspace.com/cmvawareness
Please check it out. CMV is the leading caue of hearing loss in children and is second only to Down Syndrome for mental retardation.
I really love watching the pregnancy vlogs on here, my favourites are Lucy and Allie. After experiencing a completely different pregnancy from that i thought i would have, its so nice to see "normal" pregnancies and how fulfilling they are.
Interests
My main interest of course is my family- i love them all so much :)
On YouTube, im interested in videos about pregnancy/birth, pole dancing (for fitness) as well as some "how to" vids.
