I miss the old 7.3, these new ones aren't as good when it comes to longevity. A lot of mechanics have told me that the cummims are the best, but you have to worry about dodge's transmission and electrical problems. So I'd probably go with the duramax.

Amazingly my dad ran a 1979 chevette with a 4 speed manual 135,000 miles. But it was the sign of the times I guess. He had to get rid of his 76 trans am for the chevette because of rising gas prices.

@funnyjunk0123 They probably couldn't get parts because GM owns 51% of Isuzu which partnered in the developement of the Duramax diesel. Ford is just as bad as GM, they would of had to take bail out money if they hadn't sold Jaguar, Volvo, and Land Rover. I didn't like they government bailing out...

What did they expect a 650 against a 3500. Put a 3500 chevy with a duramax against a 350 with a powerstroke that duramax would walk all over that powerstroke.
