I wrote a fair few videogames in England back in the 80's and 90's, including several arcade conversions to 8/16 bit home computers. Some of them were ok, all of them were written to a deadline.
People who played them are now getting middle-aged & nostalgic. ;-)1

Ironically one of my most widely known games is "Invade-a-load" which took about a week to write.
