About this user
Richard Suttmeier, Chief Market Strategist, RightSide Advisors
As Chief Market Strategist I look at the US Capital Markets from a unique prospective. I combine the oil and water of fundamental analysis and basic chart analysis, and provide levels at which a market or any stock should be bought on weakness or sold on strength.
I have become an expert in sector evaluations, and have developed a specialized method of evaluating the finance sector through a detailed analysis of the FDIC Quarterly Banking Profile. I correctly predicted the crash of the homebuilders beginning in the summer of 2005. In April 2006 I predicted the real estate meltdown that's plaguing community and regional banks around the county today. My readers knew the problems banks are facing today, more than a year ago.
As a professional in the US Capital Markets for more than thirty years I transferred my engineering skills to the trading and investment world. My bachelor's degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a master of science from Brooklyn Polytechnic University plus trading experience has made me a self developed Financial Engineer.
I began my career in the financial services industry in 1972 trading US Treasury securities in the primary dealer community. I became the first long bond trader for Bache in 1978, and formed the Government Bond Department at LF Rothschild in 1981, helping establish that firm as a primary dealer in 1986. This experience gave me the insights to be an expert on monetary policy, which I feature in my RightSide.com blog commentaries, in my weekly Traders' Club radio and Internet chats on RightSide Live, and in my daily RightSide TV clips, Today's Four In Four, which describes my four key blips on my radar screen that day.
While at LF Rothschild I began to write research covering the US Capital Markets in 1984 and in 1988 formed Global Market Consultants, LTD to communicate my ideas to high net worth individuals and institutions around the globe. My research has been used by major institutions such as the Open Market Trading Desk at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Treasurer, State of Ohio, Wall Street professional traders, institutional investors and high net worth individuals.
My unique research approach has been incorporated into several financial organizations over the years. I was the US Treasury Strategist at Smith Barney 1991 through 1995, the Chief Financial Strategist for William R. Hough 1997 into 1999, and as Chief Market Strategist for Joseph Stevens & Co., Inc. 1999 to 2006. I am now Chief Market Strategist for RightSide.com, and Investment Advisor for Joseph Stevens & Co., Inc. I have been a contributor to RealMoney.com since 2005.
My industry licenses include, Series 7, Registered Principal and Investment Advisor. I have also been President of The Society for the Investigation of Recurring Events, SIRE since 2000. Over the years I have appeared may time in the financial media, on financial networks such as CNBC, CNN, CNNfn, New York 1, Bloomberg TV and radio, Wall Street Week With Fortune, and the Bill Mazer Radio Show. In 2002, I anchored my own show on Yahoo Finance Vision called, "Traders' Club with Richard Suttmeier." Today, I am frequently quoted in USA Today, The NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and The Dow Jones Newswires. When in New York you can see me every Monday morning on CNBC's Worldwide Exchange.
