About Me:

a ball of energy inside a carbon-based suit. I am a potter. an artist. I paint, draw, poet, whatever comes. I graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2008. I am building a small studio to produce designer dinnerware. Check me out on ETSY. I am currently working to build a japanese style woodkiln called an Anagama. They can reach temperatures of 2450 degrees F. and are fired with just wood. There is nothing protecting the wares from the ashes so the ceramic objects are coated in ash (as the kiln gets hotter the wares get sticky and the ash clings to the surface). When the kiln gets to 2200 or 2300 degrees F. the ash melts and forms a glaze. The Anagama is the most aggressive kiln style for this kind of surface treatment. The kilns are Korean originally but were adopted by the Japanese and Chinese between the 2nd and 5th Centurys AD.
