@floridajames04 you're the moron... He's referring to fact that the 1st gen iphone has 2g internet, as the "3g" 2nd gen iphone has 3g internet, in the iphone 4, the 3gs was 3rd gen, and the iphone 4 = 4th gen. 1st gen iphone was just called iPhone, then was retroactively renamed to the iphone 2...
it's not all density related, there's defiantly more chemistry involved. I'm not sure how it works but i would guess that polarity and alcohol concentration affect this, i know sugar is used to make density gradients in molecular biology labs.
