I have been a long time fan of this piece. I have at least a half dozen interpretations
(without checking Arrau, Nojima, Browning, Richter, Argerich & Horowitz) and this one is right up at the top of the list. Quite impressive when you consider that Arrau's teacher was a direct student of Liszt!

@coolymac, I really have to disagree with you about his vocals. His voice changed over the years. During his Columbia years his voice was much lighter and more suitable to the crooning style of that era. During the 50's it deepened and he became more of a jazz singer. He does not talk his lyrics....

If you guys think this is the best, I've got another. Try listening to the Hellecasters version with John Jorgensen, Will Lee and Jerry Douglas. Just don't try driving while it's playing, unless you want a ticket!
