I have been a long time fan of this piece. I have at least a half dozen interpretations

(without checking Arrau, Nojima, Browning, Richter, Argerich & Horowitz) and this one is right up at the top of the list. Quite impressive when you consider that Arrau's teacher was a direct student of Liszt!

@coolymac, I really have to disagree with you about his vocals. His voice changed over the years. During his Columbia years his voice was much lighter and more suitable to the crooning style of that era. During the 50's it deepened and he became more of a jazz singer. He does not talk his lyrics....

When my wife and I got married in the mid-seventies, we chose "Time In A Bottle" as our song. I have loved almost every note the man played. His Chopin Waltzes are as definitive as Schnabel playing Beethoven Sonatas. Never overdone but with virtuosity aplenty when called for.

Actually the best Chopin Lipatti ever did had to be the waltzes! If you haven't heard them, run don't walk!
