The safety problems that the concord had have nothing to do with it's retirement. It is actually due to the cost of maintaining the aircraft and primarily FUEL costs it simply was not making money for anyone to keep it around.

Just for all of you doubters out there. You CAN land an A380 in St. Maarten. You can land an A380 anwhere you can get a 747 into. The A380 was built to get into any airport that can already handle heavy aircraft. The A380's MTOW roll is actrually shorter than the 747's.
