The Tales from Evolution
Once upon a time, there were algae that released eggs & sperm cells into the water where they could meet up and form zoospores. The zoospores merrily drifted to far away places but some stumbled onto land. The pioneering algae were subjected to evil winds and temperature swings. OH NO! Over millions of years a few of these desperate algae resisted dryness and lived on. These are the ancestors of all land plants.
They only needed: a partnership with fungus (lichen), protection for moist zygotes (mosses), vascular structures (ferns), seed bearing plants (gymnosperms), switch out swimming sperm for pollen (anonymous invention), flowers (insects increased efficiency by trading pollen and nector for free air miles), and the invention of a protective coating for seeds, called a 'seed coat' invented by the ingenious angiosperms!
The End
