Drinking Water for India was started by Rujul Zaparde and Kevin Petrovic, 8th graders at Princeton Day School. They strive to build tube-wells in remote villages across India. This is a video of their first well. Here is how Drinking Water for India was started:
In 2006, when Rujul had the opportunity to visit a remote village in India, he was astounded. He could not believe that villagers had to walk miles to reach their nearest water source. When he returned to the U.S., he talked to his friend and classmate, Kevin Petrovic, and they started fundraising to build tube-wells in India. As of November, '08, Rujul and Kevin have built another 11 wells, aggregating up to 12 wells. Each tube-well costs only $900 and can supply water to thousands of people for many years to come.
