drh4683 video's are all about preserving and sharing nearly forgotten parts of the USA's technological past. Anything from machines, tools, and electronics as well as "how to" videos so you can take part in preserving great pieces of American history in technology.

United States

Perserving American technology of the 1950's-1970's. Things such as vintage color television sets, vintage American cars, small engines and outdoor power equipment.

I absolutely love your collection. Would you be interested in giving me a tour? I live in Hammond, Indiana and would be willing to make the ride out there. Also, I know where I can find an olympic 23 inch b&w set in an oriental type cabinet? Interested?

Doug, I have been a long time watcher and fan!
I was wondering if you ever considered producing a book on tube TV and radio repair? With your background, expertise and meticulous attention to detail I am sure it would be excellent.
I just bought "REPAIR OF ANTIQUE, VINTAGE, VACUUM-TUBE RADIOS " By Alfred Corbin that he sells on ebay and it made me think of you.

Doug, what a joy to discover you. I restored my first set in 1960 when I was 13 years old - it was - are you ready for this? -a Westinghouse H840CK15 which I bought for $40 - and I sold for $150 so I could buy a CTC-5 - I could KILL myself now - I often wonder where that set is - we were living in Homewood, Illinois at the time - so perhaps it's still in the Chicago area - it was an amazing set with a gorgeous picture - low hours, perfect 15GP22A - I must have spent a thousand hours converging it, but in the end it was spectacular - my mother thought I'd gone bonkers spending all that time, but boy, what a picture! I'm looking forward to watching your restorations - just watched the CTC-16 - would have liked a little more steady camera work (guess that's because you're doing it alone) and also would have liked to have seen a good close-up of the 21FBP22 with the lens removed - looking forward to more!

I would give nearly anything to go back to the way life in America was back 50 years ago. I was born in 1963 and I remember how things were. It is a tragedy how much we have lost. Great work in bringing back some wonderful pieces of the past when we had so much more to offer.
