About Me:
Black Maple is my husband. He is the solo artist. All of the original songs that are uploaded are done by one man,James Draughn.
About the band Black Maple: from 1992-1996 Black Maple was nothing more then a local garage band from West Palm Beach Fl. Formed by James(Mike) Draughn. With the exception of being lucky enough to have had management and booking agency's,we went through the typical local scene senario.The people who had talent,didn't have dedication,and the people that had dedication didn't have talent.Therefore the expected spiraling downfall was inevitable. After experimenting with other projects/people and bands.Playing the bar scene and depending on other people became disappointing time and time again! Because of this James(Mike) Draughn went solo!
Black Maple is now James(Mike) Draughn and James Draughn only! Needless to say,without fundings,management,and sponsors I do the best I can with what I have. All songs are recorded simply with an all in one unit "Yamaha 1600" recording station. Since completely giving up was not an option,giving up on the industry was. Recording my own songs by myself and producing them,has produced more satisfaction and results then dealing with the ladder. Dreams of making it in the industry have long disappeared!
But thanks to the motivation from my wife,writing songs and playing music is still in my life. All the nice comments we receive from you tubers,has been enough reward for me.And if you keep listening,ill keep posting. Thank you for taking your time for reading this!
All the video work/editing are done by Dawn Draughn along with some backing vocals.
Dawn Draughn makes the videos and does all of the you tube work/comments.
