About Me:

Email: doug.steele@gmail.com

QUICK BIO: Guitar teacher, guitarist in Alarum, cover band guitarist, drummer for Brothel, singer, voice over artist/radio stuff.

MUSIC BIO: American born John Sanders (media name Doug Steele) has been playing guitar for 25+ years, teaching 15+ years, with lots of studio and live experience. I've done clinics for Ibanez, Line 6, Peavey, and I'm currently teaching online at learnshredguitar.com. I'm co-founder of Guitar Fight Club (with close friend Ben Quirk), and was top 18 in Dean Guitar's Worldwide Shredder Search Competition.
I'm the guitarist for Melbourne Australian metal band Alarum. To pay the energy bill I teach guitar from home, play in the Rob and Doug duo (acoustic covers), as well as Gravity (power trio/covers), and I do guitar sales at Cranbourne Music in Blackburn.
My main guitar influences are Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch, Paul Gilbert, and Jason Becker. But I'm into tons of guitar players (Guthrie, Greg Howe, Holdsworth, the REAL scary guys).

BAND: Sinister Sam was formed in '87 with my buddy Scot Miller. Started out doing backyward parties, then graduated to the club scene a few years later, supporting bands like Vio-Lence, Forbidden, Fungo Mungo, MIRV, Agent Orange, X, Nuclear Assault, Deftones, Psychefunkapus, among others. Total Zappa Metal with shred guitar. Check it out, 3 full shows on youtube so far. We ALMOST signed with Varney's Shrapnel label, but it wasn't meant to be. Too bad, I really liked my time in Sam. Very creative, musically free. Haven't been in a cooler band since.
My 'band' Flatstick was a studio project with my close friend and fellow guitar teacher Gary McKay (RIP). We released one album (Flatstick's Omnicore) in 2000 which stayed in mp3.com's top 10 metal songs for about a year. Chris Adler from Lamb of God heard the songs from mp3.com and tried to get us signed. LA session drummer Glen Sobel and Haji's Kitchen also like the Flatstick CD, which is a cross between FNM, Zappa, some electronica tidbits , and heavy doses of shred guitar.

RADIO: From 1999-2004 I was a radio personality on the Austereo Network (on countless night shows Australia wide), which featured crazed rants (Doug Steele, American Psycho), stunts (Undercover Brother), character voices and prank calls (Hidden Mike). I also voiced commercials, both corporate and character. Unfortunately, the station didn't know how to utilize my talents to their full potential, so they fired me, ha ha ha!! Cop that.

MC: Through radio, I have MC'd a buttload of promotional events, most notably Charlies Angel's Full Throttle Movie Premiere, held at Sydney Cafe,in front of thousands of rabid movie fans.

Welcome to my channel. Lots of guitar stuff on here, but there's also clips of living life out here in Australia, as well as other things. Enjoy!!!

Greetings Doug, was watching the 'Bumblebee Done" vid and I believe 'Vic' made the comment that Ed used PAF's after both of you were talking about the 2-wire cable the PU had/has. Reason I'm commenting on this is that I've seen many photos of Ed with a Les paul and the neck PU has been removed, you think Ed used this 'neck' ( lower output) PU in the bridge position on any of his guitars?

Thanks...
