About Me:
Christopher Dorrah of Charlotte, NC, developed his writing and directing skill early in his career. In 1994 Christopher Dorrah wrote/produced/directed the play, Lyrics of Fury (1994), a comedy about a Dj and his sexual relationships. During that same year Dorrah also won the Palmetto Drama Festival award for Best Actor in stage play "Hoods." Since then Dorrah has become a well-known, intelligent, and talented director/writer. His next play was Black Sunday (1994), focused mostly on the conflict between a mayor and an uncompromising pro-black activist. With Black Sunday in profit and publicity, Dorrah went on to do his landmark play, Jazzephatnastee (1994), which is often considered heavy handed, but still good, and did not seem to be as controversial as his previous efforts, but showed his talent for directing and acting. His next play, 4 Play (1995), was about dating. Dorrah's handling of the subject proved yet again highly controversial although it did not quite arouse the debate that similar earlier plays did. Dorrah's next play, My Soul Good (1995) was comparatively light and had an underscoring theme of understanding Kwanzaa. His next play, My Ace Boon Coon (1996), was an intense drama, yet well received and well liked, if for nothing else than the fine quality of acting and directing the play showed its audience. He wrote/produced/directed a controversial play, manage a trois (1997), a honest story about love, relationships and infidelity, which won him critical acclaim throughout and was the jumpstart to his success. However success did not mean money, and Dorrah's next play, SYSTA (1998), at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC was huge on a status level but failed to reach the financial expectations of Dorrah or his first time investors. But that situation only made Dorrah stronger; he took some time off and upgraded his writing/screen writing skills and now is writing/producing/co-directing the new television series Metro (2005). Metro is an locally produced and cast hour long, number one rated, drama/soap opera shown on the WB in South Carolina. Dorrah also owns Dorrah International, HQ Stop n Shop, Urban Essential and Dorrah Grillz; which are retail clothing and multimedia stores in the southeast area. Dorrah fuels his everyday ambitions with the quote, "I don't want to know the world, I want the world to know me."
