Until i watched this, i did not know that in Scott Walkers version, the words were somewhat different. Some of this may be due to translation, but they are both excellent. Scott Walker has The passion of Jacques Brel.

Thankyou for posting. Quite enjoyable, but if i understand it right, not one of Fassbinders better films. As usual, first class actiing, maybe the problem is that the film didnt relate to real life, as the Marriage of Maria Braun did.

I never have thought that Peter Finch was miscast as Oscar Wilde. Although i have seen the Robert Morley version, I think both films stand up well.

I found the film rather laboured. The acting is good, but not for over two hours. I am in the minority, but its just my opinion

As someone has already said , part 7 is missing. This makes it very hard to work out whats going on! Apart from that its quite a good film , but the part missing spoils it.

This is much more than good , but i suppose not to everyones taste. This must account for so little views .I must admit that it took me far too long to discover Scott Walker after the 1960s.

I thought this film o. k, but not as good as Veronica Voss, which in turn , not as good as The marriage of Maria Braun. Like all things it is just an opinion, But probably clouded by the fact that i thought , The marriage of Maria Braun exceptional

Kathy kirby was a very talented singer. Her choice of material sometimes had to be questioned, but she deserved a better fate than befell her. I aways have liked her singing.

I heard this wonderful song, many years ago and i thought that it was debbie harry that i had heard. I have just found this, and the poppy family, so i think i was mistaken about blondie. I just wonder if she ever recorded it.!

John walker of the walker brothers, does a very good version of this lovely song. It can be found on Youtube. Personally it is my favourite, but like most things in life, it is just opinion.
