Basically it said that if Quebec separated it would be the end of Canada,and also that there were already 2 referendums,one in 1980 and one in 1995.
The new Constitution we got in 1982 says that to add or remove a province there must be a vote by ALL provinces,and it must have the majority of the population,and the majority of the provinces.
