@Ryio5 Wrong. The Me 163 went into operational service May 1944 one month AFTER the Me 262 did in April 1944.

Of coarse the Me 163 is a rocket plane .. not a jet, it was not very successful as a combat aircraft either while the Me 262 destroyed over 500 Allied aircraft.

@frostymoss1 The 88mm gun in the Jagdpanther is too large to fit practically in the Panther turret.

Without a turret the Jagdpanther had more room for a larger gun and was capable of carrying more frontal armour too.
