In the second week of sixth grade, all four of us joined Academy of Rock. This was a familiar background for Josh, a talented bass player in 7th grade who was in a band that had broken up the previous year. But for Brennan, Nick, and Connor, it was completely new. Our first instructor randomly threw us together by how well he thought we could work together. First we were all assigned to learn one cover song. This was a big challenge for many. I think we all were a little over-whelmed too. We were told to do the song "Breed" by Nirvana. We were not a big fan of nirvana. Not one of us. But we didn't want to make a bad first impression. Then a girl who played the cello was assigned to our band. This was probably the biggest hold up in that first song. Then she had to quit because it didn't fit to her schedule. I think words couldn't describe how happy we four boys were. We were set. So we learned it and it was a fairly quick process. Then once we were finished, we found out it sounded okay. Then on to our third song. Our audience loved us! Then over Christmas break, Connor Wrote a guitar riff to our song "Truth or Consequence." That was our first original, and sounded great. Then on came "Why Not" after an unfortunate turn of events happened for our guitarist Nick. He then threw his anger into a riff. Then Connor wrote the lyrics. Many say that is our greatest song. There are many more songs and shows to come. We would like to say thank you academy of rock for this great opportunity. Thanks for reading -Dodging Bullets
