Actually Copeland is correct in saying it is a sexually transmitted disease. Note that he didn't say that sexual contact is the ONLY way hepatitis can be transmitted. There fore he/'s technically correct.

To answer your question: no, Hawking's argument has no effect whatsoever on the question of whether science has made God unnecessary. This is because Hawking's theories aren't science. They're philosophical treatises with equations tossed in.
