My Mom brought this song to me and I fell in love with it instantly!!! I hope you enjoy my version of it and the video which we shot at the Rialto Theater in Montreal, this is a 1923 theater that has been maintained and is stunning! I was so privileged to be able to video tape on that historic stage!

DEDICATED TO A DEAR FRIEND xx
Luther Vandross co-wrote this song as a tribute to his father and it was the 'Song of the Year' at the 2004 Grammy Awards. Celine Dion actually sang the song on Awards show because Luther Vandross was too ill to attend. Her version, along with many other cover versions of his songs by other well-known artists, appeared on the album, 'So Amazing: An All-Star Tribute to Luther Vandross' after his death in 2005. It is Celine's version I am covering now. I had never really listened to 'Dance With My Father' properly until about six months ago, when one of my best friends lost her father totally unexpectedly. I listened to the song then with a new maturity and understanding. It is so beautiful and touching. The poignancy of the lyrics really hit home and perhaps for the first time, I realised how vulnerable we all are and how our lives can change forever in an instant. Naturally, it made me think deeply about myself and my father and made me want to hug him tight forever! If you are wondering, YES, it is my dad in the video with me. I want to thank him for that and for the amazing job I think he did editing the video. I also want to thank him and my mum for directing and filming it.
