He loves four on the floor and so do I, but to subject so many works with the same approach seems non-sensical. Seemed more important to create a signature part for the piece at hand....

This tune set the standard for which all other pop/jazz tunes would size up for me/us. Whenever I needed inspiration to greatness, I would think of how Steve Gadd nails this piece on drumset. Just wish I learned to play the "drums" for my own self, instead of "imitating" the heroes so: Bill, Max, Buddy, Al, Terri, Bernard, Art, Elvin. I was a great imitator, but not a great "innovator" coming up. NOw I can devote my latter years to excellence and sensitivity on the drumset/trapparatus...
