David B. Samadi, MD is the Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. As a board-certified urologist and an oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of urologic diseases, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and prostate cancer, he also specializes in many advanced minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer, including laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic robotic radical prostatectomy.
Dr. Samadi is one of the very few urologic surgeons in the United States trained in oncology, open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. He is also the first surgeon in the United States to successfully perform a robotic surgery redo. To date, Dr. Samadi has performed over 3,000 robotic laparoscopic prostate surgeries.
Dr. Samadi completed his postgraduate training in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and in urology at Albert Einstein School of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. He completed an oncology fellowship in urology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a robotic radical prostatectomy fellowship at Henri Mondor Hospital Creteil in France under the mentorship of Professor Claud Abbou. Samadi is fellowship trained in laparoscopy and robotic prostatectomy surgery and is an internationally recognized expert in both fields.
Dr. Samadi frequently presents his clinical research at medical conferences as a subject matter expert nationally and internationally. Over the past decade, Samadi has been actively involved in training and proctoring urologists across the country and internationally. His website, Robotic Oncology, has been translated into six different languages and is one of the most popular urology sites on the Internet.
Dr. Samadi is a member of the American Urologic Association and the American Medical Association. He is also the Founder and Director of Mount Sinai's Robotic Fellowship Program. Dr. Samadi frequently presents his clinical research at medical conferences as a subject matter expert nationally and internationally. Dr. Samadi is has been included in Castle Connolly Medical's America's Top Doctors for the past 3 years as both a top Urologist as well as a top Cancer Physician . New York Magazine named Samadi to their Best Doctors List in 2009. He has been on regional cable television and interviewed on top radio shows not only for his expertise but to educate communities and let them know that prostate cancer caught early is treatable. Samadi is also a contributor on the panel of Fox News' Medical A-Team.
