About Me:
dj moon "bio":
Born & raised in Detroit,
now in Cali,
just outside of SF (The City)..
I could play drums the first time I sat down at a set at age 9 or 10, amazing the whole family at a yearly Thanksgiving feast...
I had a love of classical music, mainly film scores, since I was a kid, along with astronomy & all things Sci-Fi....
At the not-so-tender age of 11, I fell in love with the FUNK, some classic ROCK, but was too much of a bookworm to investigate who or what I had just heard on the radio.....
One day,
in 7th grade,
someone handed me
Prince "1999" on vinyl......
I then knew WHO it was & what I liked, and became "obsessed" with music (mainly Prince & related artists).I then discovered "electro" a.k.a. "breakdancing music", and became a (very good:) breakdancer.......
At my crews basement parties, I would mix Prince/related in with my rap & electro jams, sometime splaying records entirley backwards,
and other times at double or half speeds!
I would later "create" my own music, using decks, cheap synths, (champion!:) beat-boxing, etc. onto cassette,
using 2 very sensitive-buttoned boom-boxes,
comin up with a sound that I later figured out someone took my idea,
and "INVENTED" TECHNO........
Music became a bit repetitive, & a little boring towards the end of the 80's & into the early 90's,. Some amazing funk (DAG, Jamiroquai - the 2 funkiest EVER!!) came forth, and I LOVED TLC's "CrazySexyCool" in '94, but I needed something that included an amalgam of everything I had loved & lived up to that point.........
I worked for a very famous (but recently defunct) record store, and asked for some interesting promo's, where I discovered several "Acid Jazz" & "Trip Hop" CD compilations. Loving the music right away (DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, DJ Cam, Woob, etc), i started buying CD singles of the tracks I loved so much, to hear (& have) all of the various remixes..........
On that fateful day, I picked up a Funki Porcini CD single for "King Asahabanapal", in which I heard (and was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by) the Dillinja remix, AND another Trip Hop compilation with T Power VS MK Ultra "Mutant Jazz"............
"OMmfnG!"
was all I could muster as my jaw dropped to the floor,
and my breath was taken from me,
as I had FOUND MY CALLING............
Took me 3 years checking out local SF gigs (J Majik, Ed Rush, Doc Scott, Peshay, LTJ Bukem + Blame, Goldie) & even LIVE D'n'B shows (Roni Size & Reprazent with REAL drums & stand-up bass!.... absolutely awesome!!), saving what little money I could, putting up with life & it's gravity, just to get an electronic music class, 2 semesters in a row (1997 & 1998), just to create what little I have.............
Hopefully, with time & Money & HELP *(HINT-HINT!!!;), there will be much, MUCH more..............
ALSO see my jamglue page for more remixes:

(I kinda-sorta quit posting to that site... too many cheaters)
And, of course, my 2 *(count 'em, TWO) myspace music pages... d@mn limitatios):
