Don't have a Multitouch Table yet? Have one, but need something smaller for testing? Building a small portable multitouch pad will allow you to test software and experiment on a smaller scale while building your full table or when away from your multitouch screen. Have fun and make a MTmini! This uses Front Diffused Illumination, with normal ambient light (infrared not required or needed) and a normal off-the-shelf webcam (IR filter can still be in place).
-How's it Work?-

For this to work, all you need is a room with (at least) some light. The results will be best when the room lighting is even (no bright lights shinning from one direction onto the multitouch pad).
When you place you fingers on the surface, shadows are created where your fingers are. The webcam sees these shadows and sends the image to the tracking software which tracks the shadows as they move on the surface.
It's important to try different lighting setups and to configure the software in order to get the best results.

***100,000 VIEWS!!! THANK YOU WORLD!!!!!***This is my baby, folks. I remixed this back in January upon returning from Christmas break. The initial video for it contained just a bunch of inspiring images. Then, a few months later, I found the live footage of Journey performing it. So, I did a re-edit of the video remix and came up with what you're viewing now. The remix itself was done up the same method used for the Nelly Furtado track. I'm currently trying to obtain rights for the Journey song so I can include the remix on my upcoming cd, "Noisemaker." In the meantime, stop over at cdbaby.com and get my first release, "Dreamer." Try before you buy: all mentionned software can be downloaded before you buy it. Download cheap options and expensive to contrast.
Features:
Easy to learn: Is it easy to learn. Does it sacrifice features in order to be easy?
3D visualizer: What is the quality of the 3D Visualizer. Can it display all fixture types you want, are there any limitations (such as displaying lasers)
Live speed adjustments: Can you adjust the speed of a program in a live scenario.
-Sound Active: To the beat of the music?
-by tapping: by clicking the mouse, spacebar etc.
-manual slider: by percentage of the original speed
Transparent Cues: Can you setup multiple programs that effect specific elements of a fixture (gobo, color, strobe etc) In order to maximize flexibility in your light show.
Boundary Adjustments: Can you change the pan/tilt boundaries of any particular program to match the dimensions of the venue.
