This song has the feeling that it pre-existed this performance. Pearls just pulled it out of the void and laid it perfectly onto vinyl. The overlay with surf sounds is also great and similar overlays are noticeable on some of their other songs.

Buckley performs solo on guitar and comes across just as well as Cohen's ten piece band. For some reason he omits the sixth stanza ("I did my best but is wasn't much..."). This particular song I find challenging when I perform it since it requires a voice range of two octaves.

First time I've seen a harp, even a small one, used in pop music. Yes, they're definitely eye candy, and of course they're exploiting that to the max. Personally I like them better as backup singers -- there is, for want of a better word, a lack of power when they are the lead singers.
