This is the youtube account of E-BUTT (Education - Bringing Youth Tobacco Truths) Canada and I am the President of E-BUTT in Alberta, centered from the University of Alberta.

E-BUTT:
Education-Bringing Youth Tobacco Truths (E-BUTT) is a Canadian post-secondary student group devoted to terminating the financial relationship between the tobacco industry and academia. E-BUTT's mandate is to lobby Canadian post-secondary institutions to implement policies forbidding the acceptance of research grants and donations from Big Tobacco and to stop purchasing stocks in Big Tobacco.

E-BUTT was founded in January 2006 to encourage the University of Toronto to divest (get rid of) 100% of their tobacco and tobacco related stocks and to implement a policy forbidding investments in Big Tobacco. In March 2006, after gathering a petition with over 350 signatures from the university community, E-BUTT presented a letter to the President of U of T, Dr. David Naylor asking him to consider their proposal. In reponse to the petition, President Naylor appointed a committee to recommend whether he should accept E-BUTT's proposal. The committee was chaired by the Vice President of Business Affairs at U of T and composed of five members of the university's Governing Council. In December 2006, E-BUTT presented the advisory committee with a detailed report advising them to divest. In March 2007 the advisory committee advised President Naylor to accept E-BUTT's recommendations. On March 28th, 2007 U of T became the first major university in Canada to dives from Big Tobacco (the University of Lethbridge Alberta adopted a policy in 2006 banning investments in Big Tobacco). One month after U of T divested, McGill University followed U of T's lead and divested their tobacco stocks.

E-BUTT is currently building a national coaltion and currently has chapters at the University of Alberta, the University of British Columbia and Queens University. Out current campaign is called RID (getting rid of Research Grants, Investments and Donations from Big Tobacco).
