I believe Dionne had a soulful and "deep" interpretation of music in her early days. She never needed to use gimmicks. I think she was destined for the Supper-Club circuit, whatever, and she certainly found her niche there. I rate DONT MAKE ME OVER, WALK ON BY and ANYONE WHO HAD A HEART as her three greatest recordings. She never bettered them. Cheers.
