@vampy181 we dont know what happened to rin but we know she is dead. kakashi has stated that any one who was close to him has been killed. also i think in the pain battle when he is killed he says he couldnt even save his best friends rin and obito.

@jocampo413 she appears later in the manga but the fourth sealed some of her chakra inside of naruto so she could appear and help him tame the nine tails. just one more reason of why the fourth is the greatest ninja ever.
