Dickie Cox lives as a protagonist in a realistic, science-fictional epic about the everyday world. He enjoys manuals of all sorts: computer, mechanical, occult, psychological, gardening, lucid dreaming. He has a growing interest in list making, passive solar power, and time travel. He spends his days working as a professor in a media lab but by night he is an obsessed researcher, scanning the semantic net for secret passages into lost worlds. He peruses texts and media that keep his head in the clouds; searching for visitations, encounters, and enchanted glossaries that will free his creative actions from language and discourse and allow him to transmute energetic forces at will.
Engaged in the unfolding circumstances of a mundane yet unique existential perspective, Dickie occupies free moments with his pursuits in communicative expressions, meme investigation, New Media theory and production, persona exploration, and informational structures.

As an artist, he explores consciousness, time, memory, social relationships, and identity. His films have tended towards an experimental montage of personal narrative, autobiographical events, interpersonal relationships, and graphic expressions. These latter expressions emerge from his streams of consciousness, which synthesize dissipative reveries just below the surface of shared external social events of which Dickie Cox appears to be a part. It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that in his work he is obsessed with consciousness, the mysteries of the unknown, human nature, speculative science, fringe thought, and the big question of what is real. A composition in time allows for an expandable instance to explore the tangible seam between the internal and external worlds and a transmission of memes.
