You don't need to add any more "Sturm und Drang" - it is already in the music. It also has a very lyrical side - often missed by over emotional interpretations. Just listen to recordings by Bruno Walter and Otto Klemperer. After all they knew Mahler personally so they should know. Haitink also do...
